As usual, there will be an all-day celebration on the University of Texas campus in Austin. But this year Boise is where the new action is. Check out http://www.boisenopantsday.com for more information about what they have planned for the big day!
Meanwhile, an article just came out in the Austin Chronicle about the secret and sinister Hollywood origins of No Pants Day.
“Conventional wisdom has it that No Pants Day (which takes place this Friday, May 2) had its beginnings in Austin in the mid-1980s and is little more than a good-natured lark free of any political or social intent – just a bunch of breezy young adults with nothing better to do than wander the streets in their underwear, scaring children and dogs. But the truth is actually much more sinister. New research has revealed that Trouser-Free Day was actually started in Hollywood in 1928 by a secret cabal of gin-soaked movie producers, writers, and actors interested as much in flaunting societal convention and toppling democracy as they were in making movies”

The final week is here, my friends. It’s just a few short days until No Pants Day. It’s time to spread the word if you haven’t already been doing so. One of the easiest ways is to buy an ad on Facebook. It’s ridiculously cheap… something like 5 dollars for 10,000 ad impressions. To the left is an image you can feel free to use in your ad. And here’s some text you might want to use as well:
“The 1st Friday in May is always No Pants Day. No Pants Day is a day where everyone, be they students or respectable businessmen, leave their pants behind. This Friday, May 4th, liberate your legs.”
Check out the brand new events page. We’ll keep it up to date as we learn more about what’s happening around the world this year. So far we’ve got confirmed events for Austin (Texas), Red Deer (Alberta), and Chilliwack (British Columbia). Got an event? Let us know!
Here is a No Pants Day Public Service Announcement (PSA) suitable for play on the radio, in your own podcasts, or simply on your own blog or website. Feel free to use it any manner you see fit.
